"Walk the Water's Edge"

The most recent recording by Mike Burns, "Walk the Water's Edge," carries the true appeal of traditional American string music. Mike plays and sings without pretense. Just subtle, simple, and beautiful songs by -- and for -- real people about real life, and from the heart. "Walk the Water's Edge" carries the down-home sound so many try to emulate; music the way people played it at home, at dances and for entertainment. It is in this element that Mike Burns finds his resonance. "Walk the Water's Edge" is a gem of unabashedly old-fashioned music, vital and timeless, which will make it hard for you not to sing along. Mike enjoys walking the line between old-timey country, bluegrass and folk in song, content and spirit. Produced and recorded in Nashville by Grammy Award-winning producer/engineer Bil VornDick, "Walk the Water's Edge" positions Mike Burns as one of the most exciting "newly emerging arrivals" to the bluegrass and acoustic country scene.

Mike wanted the perfect blend of instrumental virtuosity and sensitive musicianship to help deliver the feelings in his songs to the listener. With the help of Bil VornDick he assembled the perfect session band, comprised of some of the most notable and award winning instrumentalists in bluegrass: Grammy Award-winning Bryan Sutton plays guitar; Mark Fain and Missy Raines play bass; mandolin work by Ronnie McCoury (Del McCoury Band) and Wayne Benson; Ron Stewart contributes his banjo and fiddle work; and Bobby Hicks also plays fiddle. Randy Kohrs plays Dobro; Keith Little, Kathy Chiavola, Patty Mitchell, and Jeff White provide harmony vocals throughout.

Recorded at Masterlink Studios in Nashville, TN by Bil VornDick.
Mastering by NRP Mastering in Nashville, TN by Jon Eberle.
