Mike Burns is a singer, a songwriter, and flat-picking guitarist from Purdys, NY. He's been performing for over 30 years. Mike has been described as having a delightfully smooth baritone voice and a commendable song writing talent.

Mike has attracted the attention of other song writers and recording artists in recent years. His stellar song "My Darling" was recorded by Mark Newton (with Valerie Smith) on his project Follow Me Back To The Fold: Tribute To The Women In Bluegrass on Rebel Records. This album won the Recorded Event of the Year Award at the International Bluegrass Music Awards Show in 2001 in Louisville, KY.  Mike placed third two years in a row at the Chris Austin Songwriting Contest held at MerleFest. He also shared his songs at a recent ASCAP Songwriting Showcase at the IBMA World of Bluegrass.

Mike Burns is known for his family-oriented performances and familiar themes in his songs. He has a keen sense for the melody.  His music is steeped in the old-fashioned rural traditions: family, love, the spiritual path, and the simple life.  Indeed several of the songs on Mike's most recent release Walk The Water's Edge are about the love for his wife, devotion to his family, and his faith in God.

Mike's band, North Country, has performed at several major festivals in the northeast: Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival, Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival, Joe Val Memorial Festival, Pickin' In The Pasture, Catskill Mountain Bluegrass Festival, The Hudson Valley Festival, and more.
